Please visit the Schellsburg Bicentennial and Hometown Days website (external link) for up-to-date information about events and activities celebrating 200 years of Schellsburg history.

In 1808, the settlement of Schellsburg was established by John Schell, a German immigrant who came to the foothills of the Alleghenies from Philadelphia as the westward expansion of our young nation began. Located on the Old Forbes Road that connected Philadelphia to the east with Fort Duquesne (Pittsburgh) to the east, Schellsburg became a popular and prosperous waystation for the Conestoga Wagons and other travelers moving into Ohio Territory and beyond. Today, the Old Forbes Road is the Lincoln Highway (US 30).

In 2008, we celebrate the 200 year history and heritage of Schellsburg, the people, the events, and the places that have made Schellsburg the unique village it is today. We invite you to come join us in the celebration spanning the three summer holiday weekends, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.

Before there was a village, there was a church. The Old Log Church was founded in 1806.

Schellsburg is home to The Bison Corral on the old Faulk Farm property.

We're proud of our Shawnee Valley Volunteer Fire Company, which is dedicated to keeping Schellsburg and the surrounding area safe.

Our closest neighbor is Shawnee State Park.
