Installation of the Reverend Miss Ruth E. Shaver as Pastor and Teacher
Red is the traditional color for services of pastoral
office such as ordinations and installations. The pulpit at the United Church
holds paraments for Rev. Shaver's installation. The flames represent the
Holy Spirit as it came to the disciples on Pentecost, while the Lamb carrying
the royal banner is a symbol of Christ. The red prayer shawl was a gift
to Rev. Shaver from her previous parish, Second Congregational Church UCC
in Attleboro, MA.
