Programs and Ministries of the United Church
Children's Ministries
Sunday School: Pre-School through Grade 8. Currently meets from immediately after the Children's Message during 9:30 worship until the end of the service or shortly thereafter.
Nursery: Birth-age 3 during Sunday morning worship.
Vacation Bible School: Pre-School through entering Grade 8 and adult. Meets for one week during the summer.
Youth Ministries
Youth Group: Grades 6-12, meetings TBA
Confirmation/Senior Level "God and Country": Grades 9-12, meetings TBA
Middle School Level "God and Country": Grades 6-8, meetings TBA
Adult Ministries
Adult Education: Revised Common Lectionary Study led by Rev. Shaver, two sections:
Evening section meets the first and third Wednesday from 7:00-8:30.
Morning section meets the following morning (Thursday) from 9:30-11Women's Society: Open to all women who attend or are members of the United Church. Third Monday at 7 PM, and other events as planned by the group.
Coffee House: General fellowship with members and friends from the community. Monday-Thursday mornings, 8:30-11 (free will donations offset the cost of goods and support missions of the church).
Quilters: Open to all who are interested in traditional quilting. Wednesday mornings, 8:30-11.
Prayer Shawl/Craft Group: Open to all who enjoy crafting in a group setting, particularly knitting,crocheting, and cross stitching. We meet Tuesday mornings at 10 at a group member's home with a covered dish lunch served at approximately 12:30. It's all women right now, but we would very much welcome men, too!
Community Theater Supporters: Open to all who enjoy theater and want to support local theatrical groups such as the Bedford County Players. Dates vary depending on shows playing each month or season. Prior to the show, those attending are invited to the Parsonage for drinks and covered dish appetizers; we often go for dessert afterward, as well.
